For weeks, gamers have been waiting for a response from Hello Games founder Sean Murray, building rage and frustration as the “No Man’s Sky” creator kept his silence. This has led to the game earning the rating of “Overwhelmingly Negative” in terms of review scores on Steam. Meanwhile, it would seem that Murray himself is doing just fine.
The sheer amount of hatred that gamers are feeling for Murray and by extension “No Man’s Sky” is impossible to miss for those who are hanging out in gaming forums that are even remotely related to either. This goes for those who frequent Steam, where the game has just broken the record of the most disliked title of all the thousands that the platform hosts, Gamerant reports.
For those not in the know, Steam’s review system rates games in the general sense using words like “Positive” and “Negative,” and attaching various superlatives to convey endorsement or criticism. “Overwhelmingly Positive” is the highest rating that titles can achieve. “Overwhelmingly Negative” is the worst rating that a game can be given, which is where Hello Game’s spacefaring survival offering currently stands.
Naturally, this isn’t the first game to receive such a low score since there are several to have been bestowed such dishonor. However, at only 12% positive rating out of 5,373 reviews, “No Man’s Sky” takes the cake based on the numbers alone.
On more positive news, the studio confirmed via Twitter that Murray is “fine,” The International Business Times reports. The information came via Paul Weir, the game’s audio chief when a fan asked about the studio head’s condition. Weir assured users that there was nothing wrong with Murray and that their team is busy with the next patch for the game. He also wrote a post regarding Hello Game’s silence by saying that he had no “useful” input on the matter.
@TingerDave Sean is fine and we're all busy on the next patch.
