Sempra projects a roughly 20% increase in the next five-year capital budget for Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, from the $47.5 billion 2026-30 program, amid rising electricity use and reliability investment in Texas.
The projected increase is for Oncor’s 2027-31 base plan. EconoTimes previously linked the larger outlook to reliability infrastructure and rising electricity use in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Oncor reported quarterly peak system demand of 33.3 gigawatts, 6% above its previous year’s record.
Sempra’s Nov. 5 earnings announcement put 2026 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) near the top of its $4.80 to $5.30 forecast. The company retained its long-term EPS growth outlook of 7% to 9% and reaffirmed 2027 EPS guidance of $5.10 to $5.70.
Sempra expects to present Oncor’s final 2027-31 plan at its fourth-quarter earnings call in February 2027.
