Seungri questioned by police about illegal gambling; Ex-BIGBANG member admitted some of the charges hurled against him

Seungri

Seungri, a former member of BIGBANG, was summoned back to the Seoul Police office for new charges. He is being investigated for allegations of gambling while he was on a trip overseas.

The 28-year-old ex-idol singer is still not off the hook from the series of charges including embezzlement, prostitution and corruption yet new cases are coming in as the investigators kept discovering something as they dig deeper on his “Burning Sun” scandal and involvement in Jung Joon Young’s chatroom scandal. Due to these cases, Seungri was forced to withdraw from BIGBANG and immediately retired from the entertainment business in March.

New gambling case

While his pending cases in the court have yet to reach a verdict, Seungri has to face other charges for suspicions of gambling away money in casinos in Las Vegas, U.S.A. According to The Straits Times, the former idol may have lost more than $1 million in the Sin City as he played and placed bets in casinos.

Based on the report, Seungri is a VIP guest at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and he visited the place at least four times and losing over a million dollars. The Korean police have coordinated with the American authorities to secure records of the singer’s visits and transactions in the casino hotel.

Suspicion of illegal forex transactions

Aside from gambling, police are also looking into Seungri’s possible engagement in illicit foreign exchange transactions that violate the Korean laws on money exchange. In the questioning that took place on Aug. 28, he was accused of this said misdeed since the authorities think he engaged in this practice to have enough funds for his gambling activities.

After 12 hours and 20 minutes of interrogation, Allkpop reported that Seungri somehow admitted some parts in the gambling allegations but strongly denied that he violated the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act. When he emerged from the police’s office, he told the press, “I told the truth about all the suspicions and will continue to tell the truth in the future questioning.”

Before Seungri left, he apologized to everyone again for causing them to worry. No further questioning schedule was scheduled for him so far.
