An Oct. 21 one-hour snapshot showed short positions bearing nearly all liquidations across Binance, OKX and Bybit, reversing the balance recorded on the same exchanges five days earlier.

Public liquidation records from Binance, OKX and Bybit counted 6,634 position closures. The tally covered those three venues only. Short liquidations were listed at $79.31 million, compared with $3.35 million for longs.

Binance recorded $59.04 million in liquidations, while OKX had $18.34 million and Bybit $5.28 million.

Liquidations tied to Bitcoin (BTC) reached $36.47 million. Ether (ETH) totaled $28.31 million, followed by Solana (SOL) at $5.30 million. Short positions are positioned to benefit from falling prices; long positions benefit from rising prices.

A separate EconoTimes tally from Oct. 16 showed the opposite split: Long liquidations totaled $41.24 million out of $43.37 million across the same exchanges.
