All five tracked assets ended the Oct. 17 snapshot with lower open interest, while SOL’s 24-hour contraction was 6.59%.
Solana (SOL) open interest was $895 million, down 6.59% over 24 hours. Bitcoin (BTC) remained the largest market at $7.62 billion after a 1.50% decline. Ether (ETH) was at $5.36 billion, down 1.24%, while Dogecoin (DOGE) fell 1.09% to $208.4 million. XRP declined 1.73% to $392.1 million.
XRP’s evening decline followed a 0.68% gain in an earlier Saturday reading, when it was the only asset of the five to post an increase. EconoTimes covered the morning move in its earlier open-interest report.
Ether had the highest long-account share, at 75.4%. Bitcoin accounts were 63.5% long, compared with 72.2% for Solana, 74.5% for XRP and 71.5% for Dogecoin. The snapshot also listed mark prices of $81,314 for Bitcoin, $2,392 for Ether, $102.95 for Solana, $1.29 for XRP and $0.0789 for Dogecoin.
Funding was positive for Bitcoin and Ether at 0.0042% and 0.0052% per eight-hour interval, respectively. It was negative for Solana (−0.0056%), XRP (−0.0037%) and Dogecoin (−0.0005%). At each funding interval, traders with long positions pay traders with short positions when the rate is above zero.
On an annualized basis, the rates were 4.6% for Bitcoin, 5.7% for Ether, −6.1% for Solana, −4.0% for XRP and −0.6% for Dogecoin.
Open interest measures the value of derivatives contracts that remain outstanding. Its 24-hour percentage change compares the current total with the figure a day earlier, while a long-account share describes how many accounts were positioned long.
Bitcoin had the largest dollar total, while Ether had the highest long-account share. Funding was positive in those two assets and negative for the other three, showing that the snapshot’s open-interest and funding measures had different patterns. Open-interest changes covered 24 hours; funding rates were quoted per eight-hour interval.
