Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Kyo: Did the couple broke up long before their divorce was made public?

Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki broke up in June, and following the announcement, the divorce process immediately commenced. After a month, their separation was finalized by the Seoul Family Court, and it was swift because the couple agreed to the terms of not separating their assets.

The finalization of the divorce

No hearing was made over the divorce case, and it was believed that Hye Kyo and Joong Ki never appeared in court, and only their lawyers showed up at the meetings to represent them. This is one of the reasons why their divorce did not create so much noise despite the fact that they are one of the most popular A-list stars in South Korea.

What’s more, the ex-couple did not speak against each other which contributed a lot in making their divorce process such a peaceful one. Instead, they settled in the court and made the reason for their split confidential.

Rumored split before the divorce was made public

Then again, while Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo managed to keep their divorce quiet, there were rumors going around that they have actually split up months prior. It was claimed that the ex-couple have been living apart even before they celebrated their supposed one-year wedding anniversary.

Koreaboo reported that the “Descendants of the Sun” stars stopped living together in September 2018, just 11 months after they exchanged “I Dos.” It was claimed that a friend of the actor confirmed this fact.

“As far as I know, Song Joong Ki moved out of their home when he started filming the drama,” the publication quoted a source close to Joong Ki as saying. “Since then, he’s been living with a close celebrity friend of his.”

Signs of split pre-divorce

While this was not confirmed, there were events that suggest that this report may possibly be true. For instance, it has been reported that Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki have stopped wearing their wedding rings since the beginning of the year. There were also photos that showed this is true, however, the actor debunked the split rumors by wearing his ring again at the script reading for his drama, “Arthdal Chronicles.”

Finally, Song Joong Ki may be trying to refute the rumors since he has a drama at that time but the reports of his break up with Song Hye Kyo may be true after all. The suspicions that they might have called it quits a long time ago intensified when the former filed for divorce in June.
