Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo appeared to have moved on with their lives, but their divorce case is still ongoing. It was a sad day for the fans when the actor filed for divorce on June 26, but many others supported his decision.
Now, it was said that the couple wants their separation to be formalized as fast as possible and it was predicted that their divorce would be finalized in August. There will be no trial anymore as they are aiming for an amicable settlement.
How the couple will settle
Joong Ki and Hye Kyo will hasten their divorce case by not filing any counter cases or challenging the annulment. This means that as it was the actor who filed the application for divorce at the Seoul Family Court, the actress will not be filing anything as a response.
There will be no mediation either, and all that they will talk about now is how their assets would be divided. The pair do not have a prenuptial agreement, so they have to figure out how this will be dealt with.
The couple’s assets
Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s divorce is already at a phase where their application must be approved by the court. Once done, the process will proceed swiftly and expected to end without any court trial.
Since the couple already expressed their wishes to settle fast, they will be proclaimed officially single again within a month. Divorce experts in Korea noted that in cases where only one of the spouses files for the approval of a divorce settlement, it would end in just a few weeks.
In terms of how much Joong Ki and Hye Kyo will get from the division of their assets, this has yet to be decided on but Korea’s Star Today reported that the amount involved in the Song-Song couple’s divorce is over KRW100 billion.
Song Joong Ki’s value shoots up after appearing in “Descendants of the Sun,” and before this, he has also accumulated billions of won from his dramas, CF contracts and TV show appearances and more. He has invested in many properties, and his latest purchase was a KRW 10 billion private estate in Itaewon just before he married Hye Kyo.
On the other hand, the actress debuted earlier than her ex-husband, so it is understandable that she has more wealth. She is also known to own many properties, and her three houses in Samseong-dong in Gangnam alone are already worth KRW 20.6 billion.
How they will divide their wealth
Legal practitioners revealed that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s marriage involves a very large amount of money; however, they earned most of them while they were still single. They only had few projects when they were married since they were together for just 20 months, and this small portion is believed to be what they will be dividing. This means that they will keep what they had before marriage and divide only what they earned while married.
