Song Joong Ki has been filming movies since the first season of “Arthdal Chronicles” ended. He already completed “Space Sweepers,” and it already has a release date while he has yet to finish filming “Bogota” as the production has been halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The shoot for the latter film began in January, but Song Joong Ki and the whole production team from South Korea were forced to return home in March. This was due to the worsening situation on COVID-19 worldwide.
Joong Ki steps down from singer-songwriter Yoo Jae Ha’s biopic
Now, the 34-year-old actor has another film in the works. He was cast as the lead star in “Season of You and Me,” but on June 5, it was announced that he decided to withdraw from the film that will tell the life story of singer Yoo Jae Ha.
History D&C, Song Joong Ki’s agency, issued its official statement to explain why its artist pulled out from the movie. It was stated that the main reason was the schedule.
“Song Joong Ki will not appear in ‘Season of You and Me’ because of some inevitable situation,” the agency rep told OSEN. “His schedule for the second half the year is currently being adjusted, but nothing is finalized yet. He is planning to focus on his promotions for ‘Space Sweepers’ that will be released this summer.”
Further explanation on dropping out of the film and premiere of his sci-fi flick
As the actor’s filming schedule for “Bogota” has changed, and it has yet to be completed, Song Joong Ki and his agency decided to give up “Season of You and Me.” The shooting days for this biopic movie will be in conflict with the crime-thriller as the filming in Colombia has been moved to a later time. With the change, the schedule now overlapped with the Yoo Jae Ha film.
Originally, Song Joong Ki was supposed to wrap up filming for “Bogota” in May and the shoot for “Season of You and Me” will immediately follow. But now, he has to be on standby for the call to return on the set thus he can’t accommodate any other works at the moment.
Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki’s sci-fi movie “Space Sweepers” is coming very soon. This will be South Korea’s very first space adventure-themed project and it is expected to be a hit.
