The South African Reserve Bank used public meetings in Cape Town and Polokwane to examine its 3% inflation target and crypto reforms, placing monetary policy and digital finance in focus.
Sessions also examined how well the target was working, alongside artificial intelligence and exchange controls.
Consultations precede the government’s planned release of a second revised draft of proposed crypto capital rules; no publication date has been announced.
Statistics South Africa reported that annual inflation reached 4.5% in September, above the 3% point target.
SARB’s next policy announcement is scheduled for Nov. 19.
