Disney is adamant that Star Wars: Episode 9 will not receive the same level of criticism that “The Last Jedi” had gotten. As such, it’s pulling out all the stops in order to make the ninth installment of the galactic saga as epic as possible.
According to a recent surprising announcement, the cast of "Star Wars: Episode 9" will include the late Carrie Fisher, The Independent reported. The legendary actress died on Dec. 27, 2016, when she suffered a cardiac arrest four days after experiencing a medical emergency during her travel from London to Los Angeles.
The loss rocked the entertainment industry and several commemorations have been given to Fisher. Now, JJ Abrams, who’s writing and directing “Star Wars: Episode 9,” has said that Fisher will be included in the ninth installment.
The production crew will be using unseen footage of Fisher that they had shot prior to her untimely death. This poses several restrictions to the plot lines that the story might take, giving Abrams quite the challenge to make "Star Wars: Episode 9" as memorable as possible.
It’s still unclear how JJ Abrams will write around this restriction and all fans can do now is speculate. So what are the possible plotlines that “Star Wars: Episode 9” will take?
One of the most obvious paths Abrams can take is the emergence of the widespread awakening of dormant Force-users across the galaxy. This has already been demonstrated in the eighth installment and it’s safe to assume that some form of it will manifest itself in “Star Wars: Episode 9.”
Following this plotline, Rey and the Rebellion might seek out these new Force-users and take them under their wing. Of course, not all of them will be Jedis and one of them might gravitate towards the Dark Side, especially now that Snoke is dead and the only Sith remaining is Kylo Ren. So it’s possible that “Star Wars: Episode 9” will see a new villain that will be standing beside Kylo.
Disney and Lucas Films have set the release date of “Star Wars: Episode 9” for December 2019 and production is set to start tomorrow. Familiar faces will be returning to the show, with Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) making an appearance as well.
