Starbucks Japan has kicked off the holiday season with the launch of its Hatsuyuki (“First Snow”) Frappuccino, a limited-edition macadamia white chocolate drink that captures the essence of winter. Available until Nov. 21, this creamy creation brings festive charm to Starbucks’ seasonal lineup.

Almond Milk Adds a Nutty Twist to Starbucks Japan’s Snow-Inspired Macadamia Frappuccino

With Halloween wrapped up, Starbucks has launched straight into the holiday season, introducing its first festive Frappuccino of 2024. Known as both the Macadamia White Snow Chocolate Frappuccino and the Hatsuyuki (“First Snow”) Frappuccino, this limited-edition drink is crafted to resemble fresh-fallen snow, per SoraNews24.

Reporter K. Masami, eager to sample the drink’s winter-inspired charm, opted for almond milk customization due to her dairy sensitivity, adding an extra 55 yen ($0.36) to the Frappuccino’s 700-yen price tag. According to the staff, almond milk complements the macadamia flavor exceptionally well, although they suggested an espresso shot to enhance the drink’s depth. However, Masami chose to keep the drink “snow-pure.”

The Frappuccino’s presentation did not disappoint. Immaculately white, it resembled a frosted glass of milk, topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with crushed candy pieces. Taking her first sip, Masami noted the rich macadamia flavor, balanced by a creamy base that embodied winter indulgence. Though it looked like untouched snow, the taste was nutty, with melt-in-your-mouth fudge pieces adding extra warmth and sweetness.

The White Snow Mocha, priced at 561 yen, also caught her attention. Its white mocha-flavored syrup combined with macadamia white chocolate sauce creates a swoon-worthy experience. The espresso’s bitter notes lent the drink a mature flavor profile, making it hard for her to choose a favorite between the mocha and Frappuccino.

Seasonal Classics Return: Starbucks Japan Celebrates the Holidays with Festive Drinks and Treats

For those wanting even more seasonal flavors, Starbucks is bringing back three festive classics for a limited time: the Gingerbread Latte, Crème Brulee Latte, and Joyful Medley Tea Latte. Masami has enjoyed each of these during the past holiday season.

Alongside these beverages, Starbucks offers an array of festive foods. Masami recommends the Tomato Mozzarella & Basil Chicken Filone (630 yen) and the Chicken & Cheese Hot Tortilla (570 yen), which she says is especially delightful when grilled.

With so much on offer, it’s a perfect time to stop by Starbucks for holiday treats. The Snow Mocha and Hatsuyuki Frappuccino are far more flavorful than plain snow and are only available until November 21. In addition, there’s a wide selection of holiday goods in stores, adding to the festive spirit.
