‘Stranger Things’ producer admitted that he was nervous for a second season of the widely popular horror and science-fiction web television series. Meanwhile, stars David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown teased the ongoing Steve-Nancy-Jonathan love triangle for the upcoming season.
According to /Film, producer and director Shawn Levy admitted, “Yes, the pressure is on. It would be so blatantly disingenuous of me to say differently. It’s scary to have people love something this much. It becomes impossible to banish all thoughts of not wanting to disappoint.”
Levy continued, “This has been the challenge of it: on the one hand as we’ve see in the movie world, to do a follow-up that feels like the same thing is disappointing to an audience; to abandon things or change things [from the original], that disappoints the audience.”
He added, “A lot of Season 2 is next-level, some crazy stuff, but we must service these characters who are now beloved, who are known to the audience.”
Although the incoming season is set to feature brand new characters, returning cast members include David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown. The two are set to reprise their roles as Chief Jim Hopper and Eleven, respectively.
According to the Daily Mail, Harbour and Brown teased details for season two during an interview at the New York Comic Con. Harbour said, “We did get the first couple scripts, and it’s insane.”
The stars also addressed the ongoing love triangle between Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton). Harbour added, "Even when I was watching [Season 1] I felt torn. They both were so three dimensional... There will be more of that for seasons to come."
Brown had her own take on the relationship between the three characters saying, “Anything can happen… But I'm okay with [Steve and Nancy]. I just think Jonathan... Imagine if Barb came back and Jonathan and Barb were dating. That would be incredible."
‘Stranger Things’ is a web television series airing on Netflix and was created by Matt and Ross Duffer. The web series premiered on July 2016 to positive reviews from critics. It starred Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, and Matthew Modine.
Season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2017.
