Brig. Gen. Haroun Mursal Abu Tikka, identified by Sudan’s Joint Force as one of its operations commanders, was killed in North Kordofan, the force said.
Sudan News Agency (SUNA) carried the announcement on Nov. 3. The Joint Force said Abu Tikka had fought in Khartoum and North Kordofan.
Officials said attacks targeted Al-Rahad and Umm Rawaba on Thursday and Friday; the government gave no figures for deaths, injuries or damage.
The International Organization for Migration estimated that 5.27 million people had returned to areas across Sudan by Sept. 30, while nearly 8.59 million remained internally displaced.
The governments' announcements give no timetable for the proposed legal treaties. Canada expects the trade agreement to take effect in 2027 as rights groups cite UAE detention cases and disputed Sudan allegations.
