‘Suicide Squad’ released new details regarding Batman’s appearance on the film. It was reported that Ben Affleck’s Batman will be interacting with only Deadshot and Harley Quinn in a number of scenes. Meanwhile, DC is also seeking expansion of the property with possible spin-offs.
According to i09.com, a new report revealed that Affleck’s caped crusader will appear mainly with Will Smith’s Deadshot and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. It teased that Batman will cameo in certain scenes with Deashot, one being a flashback and another as an “emotional” encounter. Batman will also appear in a car chase scene between the Batmobile and The Joker’s colorful auto where he eventually saves Harley after the Joker mobile crashes in a river.
Contrary to numerous speculations, Batman will not get the chance to interact with other members of Task Force X. Despite being a minor character in David Ayer’s upcoming superhero film, Affleck is currently working with DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns on a standalone Batman film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Johns said, “I do get to say I’m working on Batman with Ben Affleck. That gets the Thanksgiving table excited, especially my brother.”
According to another article on Comicbook.com, Affleck also expressed his enthusiasm over the collaboration. The 43-year actor and filmmaker said, "I would read anything by Geoff Johns. He's a f****** genius, I love him. I love DC. I'm really excited about where it's going and, um, I couldn't be more honored and thrilled to be on board and part of this DC Universe."
Meanwhile, DC is looking to expand ‘Suicide Squad’ with a series of planned spin-offs. According to We Got This Covered, early fan reactions to the upcoming film proved to be overwhelmingly positive. It was previously reported that DC already greenlit a possible Harley Quinn spin-off film.
A source close to the studio revealed that the Harley project will not be the only possibility for the expansion of the ‘Suicide Squad’ property. It was speculated that other spin-offs for Jared Leto’s The Joker and Jai Courtney’s Boomerang may it to the big screen as well. However, no official confirmation has been made on the list of possible spin-offs as of the moment.
‘Suicide Squad’ is an upcoming superhero action film written and directed by David Ayer. It is intended as the DCEU’s third installment following Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’. It is scheduled to be released on August 5, 2016 in the United States.
