‘Supergirl’ season 2’s episode 5, entitled “Crossfire”, will follow James as he transforms into a vigilante, recruiting Winn as his sidekick. Meanwhile, Kara is set to battle against a new gang armed with alien technology.
The synopsis for episode 5 posted on Comicbook.com stated, “SUPERGIRL TAKES ON A RUTHLESS NEW GANG — Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) must beat a ruthless new gang who has been armed with dangerous new alien technology. When Cadmus sends a video to the DEO, the team realizes Cadmus is the one staffing the criminals for a secret mission.”
It seems that the new CEO of CatCo Worldwide Media wants be a superhero in his own right in the incoming episode. In the promo, James (Mehcad Brooks) takes on a new job as a vigilante by night for National City. He says, “My whole life I’ve been sidekick. My best friends wear capes and their heroes and they save people.”
However, Winn (Jeremy Jordan) tells James, “You can get yourself killed!” Although he decided to keep his new vigilante ways from Kara, he told Winn. Winn gave his support to Kara for becoming Supergirl but seems to be wary of James’ heroic dreams. In order to keep an eye out for James, Winn decides to go along as his sidekick.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that James will have an important role to play in the new season. During a previous interview with Collider, Kreisberg said, “James has a pretty big turn, coming up… He’s going to go on a pretty exciting career trajectory that we’re really pumped about.”
He continued “James is going to decide that he can no longer sit back and be a sidekick, so he’s going to decide to become a vigilante, and he’s going to become Guardian, complete with the shield, which is going to cause a massive problem in his relationship with Kara because he has decided not to tell her.”
Kreisberg added, “So, there’s this new masked vigilante, and she has her own feelings about vigilantes, and it becomes a push and pull about who gets to decide who gets to be a hero. And he’s recruited Winn to help him, so Winn is his man in the van. The two of them are doing this together, and Winn and James together is comedy gold… That’s the fun excitement of building these first 10 episodes.”
Meanwhile, Kara is set to fight against a group armed with dangerous alien technology. It would be interesting to see how she could get herself out of this bind.
‘Supergirl’ season 2’s episode 5, entitled “Crossfire”, is scheduled to premiere on The CW on November 7, 2016. It was directed by Glen Winter and written by Gabriel Llanas & Anna Musky-Goldwyn.
