“Supergirl” season 5 episode 11 is bound to have a few surprises for fans thanks to the recently concluded crossover event. While things might seem to have returned to normal on the surface, the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" did not exactly return everything back to how it was before.
The genius programmer Winn Schott, portrayed in the series by actor Jeremy Jordan, will be back in “Supergirl” season 5 episode 11. However, something’s a bit different with this Winn based on the picture released by The CW, according to CarterMatt.
Schott seems to have acquired a new costume. To be more specific, he is seen wearing a mask, something that he never did in the past. Perhaps it’s a trend from the future as he has been hanging out in the 31st century for quite some time now.
But coming back from the future is probably no small feat even for someone of Winn Schott’s caliber. His return in “Supergirl” season 5 episode 11 could only mean that he has some serious stuff to take care of back in the present.
Fortunately, the “Supergirl” season 5 episode 11 trailer might hold the clue what Schott is coming back for. Lex Luthor, portrayed by Jon Cryer, seems to be recruiting a version of Winn Schott who is called Toyman. This is obviously a reference to the villain Toyman from Earth-38 who is Winn’s father, according to Comic Book.
Luthor and the copycat Toyman appear to have reached an arraignment in “Supergirl” season 5 episode 11. “My name is Lex Luthor,” Lex offers. “That’s a weird name,” the copycat Toyman replies which was aptly countered by Lex with the retort, “No weirder than Toyman.”
And then there’s a horde of toy monkeys that are actually bombs. “Whatever you do, make it splashy,” Luthor tells his newfound partner.
Lex’s partnership with the new Toyman might become too problematic for Supergirl to handle on her own prompting Winn to come back to the present timeline. In fact, the episode’s title, “Back from the Future,” is likely about Winn’s time-traveling ways.
“JEREMY JORDAN RETURNS; DAVID HAREWOOD DIRECTS – As Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) tries to thwart a Toyman copycat, Winn Schott (guest star Jeremy Jordan) returns from the future,” the episode’s synopsis reads. “David Harewood directed the episode written by Dana Horgan & Katie Rose Rogers (#511). Original airdate 1/26/2020.”
