A Swedish grocery store reported a setting of 50 degrees Celsius (122 F) for its cooling equipment, while refrigeration problems affected ICA and Coop locations overnight before Monday, Nov. 2, Reuters reported.
The store described the setting for its refrigerators and freezers in a social media post. The figure was a reported setting, not a measured temperature inside the units. Reuters said freezer temperatures rose sharply at several stores.
Coop told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet that six of its stores were affected by similar problems. ICA said an overnight incident involving refrigerators and freezers reached a limited number of its stores. It did not identify a cause.
At least one store blamed a cyberattack, Reuters reported. Coop did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
In October, French police said hackers compromised cooling systems at hundreds of supermarkets in France. Police said the attack led to food losses and fires.
