TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co. Ltd. began moving core equipment into its Guangzhou OLED plant Oct. 31, advancing a project designed for 22,500 substrates a month and targeting production in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The Huangpu District government said core process equipment was lifted onto the factory’s L40 hoisting platform. TCL CSOT puts the project’s investment at about RMB 29.5 billion. Its planned monthly capacity counts glass substrates, not finished displays; the 8.6-generation substrates measure about 2,290 mm by 2,620 mm.
TCL CSOT says the line is intended mainly to produce displays for tablets, laptops and monitors. The company also sees potential to expand into flexible and foldable displays.
The line needs installation, power-system checks and process validation before it can start mass production, TCL CSOT said. The company’s target is the fourth quarter of 2027. A third-quarter report from TCL Technology said the t8 main factory entered its “Super Clean” stage on Sept. 17, 2026, while cleanliness acceptance and preparations for equipment arrival continued.
TCL CSOT says its inkjet process places OLED materials on glass through on-demand deposition. The company says the method can improve material use and production efficiency compared with traditional vacuum thermal evaporation.
The Guangzhou project uses an 8.6-generation format. At the company’s earlier Wuhan t12 line, production uses G5.5-generation substrates; TCL CSOT says that facility began mass production and product delivery in November 2024. The company’s next stated production milestone for t8 is the fourth quarter of 2027.
