Tata Motors reported standalone net profit of Rs 2,138 crore for Q2 FY27, reversing a year-earlier net loss as revenue and commercial-vehicle wholesales each rose 42%.

Revenue from operations reached Rs 23,930 crore, compared with Rs 16,861 crore a year earlier, the company said in a Friday, Oct. 23, exchange filing. The quarter ended Sept. 30.

The standalone accounts include the company’s joint operation with Tata Cummins Private Limited. Tata Motors Limited is the listed commercial-vehicle company after the group demerger, while Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited has a separate listing. The company’s consolidated Q2 FY27 result uses a broader reporting basis that includes subsidiaries.

Wholesale volume increased to 135,100 units. Domestic volume grew 30%, while exports rose 177%. Managing Director and CEO Girish Wagh linked freight demand to sustained infrastructure activity and stable fleet utilisation.

The company put its share of India’s commercial-vehicle market at 36.2% in H1 FY27, up 110 basis points from FY26.

Standalone EBITDA margin was 11.7%, 90 basis points below the year-earlier level but unchanged from the previous quarter. Chief Financial Officer GV Ramanan said spending discipline, productivity gains and pricing changes helped counter steel and rubber cost pressures and keep the margin level sequentially.

Free cash flow was Rs 4,606 crore for the quarter, and net cash stood at Rs 11,300 crore as of Sept. 30. Wagh said growth may slow in H2 FY27 because results will be compared with a higher base from the prior year.

The filing also sets Monday, Oct. 26, as the end of the Iveco tender-offer acceptance period, with settlement scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30, if the transaction completes successfully.
