TeraRecon is the first, and currently sole, independent Advanced Visualization vendor to attain a Risk Management Framework (RMF)-based ATO. This certification is mandatory for systems running on sensitive DoD networks, to ensure system security and confirm that company controls are in place.
In 2017 the DoD transitioned from its traditional DIACAP process to a new RMF process for evaluating technologies and determining ATO status. The RMF provides a process that integrates security and risk management activities into the system development life cycle. The risk-based approach to security control selection and specification was an important step considering the evolving challenges presented today to deliver more secure systems and meet cybersecurity threats head on.
“TeraRecon remains diligent and compliant with federal guidelines in all aspects of Security and Data Integrity. Achieving our ATO required careful adaptation of our design, development, and delivery systems. These efforts continued for several years, and represent another milestone in our commitment to both the DoD, and our PACS partners who bundle our product with theirs and operate within the DoD environment”, said TC Zhao, Chief Technology Officer of TeraRecon.
After receiving the DoD approval, two new TeraRecon installations were completed under the ATO at Evans Army Community Hospital and William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Soon after the installations, the DoD Technology Assessment & Requirements Analysis (TARA) Team visited the sites and completed the Acceptance Test of the TeraRecon Aquarius iNtuition systems.
Jeff Sorenson, Chief Executive Officer for TeraRecon said, “Our close and ongoing collaboration with the DoD has made our iNtuition products better. We are proud to be the first in our product category to receive the DoD ATO, and are now working to further expand the presence of our products in military hospitals around the world.” Mr. Sorenson continued, “Cybersecurity requirements like these are incredibly demanding and require nothing less than a full and focused commitment to process and quality.”
The new ATO granted to TeraRecon is valid until January 2021.
