Tesla China's new vehicle registrations attained a new high during the final week of the third quarter. From September 23 to 29, 2024, Tesla China reported the most significant number of registrations, 22,600, per Teslarati.
Tesla Insurance registration data provides a general understanding of the company's performance in the automotive sector despite China not disclosing its weekly domestic sales figures. Fortunately, manufacturers like Li Auto and industry observers monitor these registrations.
According to industry observers, Tesla China recorded an impressive 22,600 new vehicle registrations in the week ending September 29. This remarkable achievement marked a new record for the electric vehicle manufacturer’s weekly domestic registrations. It also represented a 63.77% increase over the week's registrations ending September 22, which were recorded at 13,800 units.
In the week ending September 1, Tesla China recorded 14,400 new vehicle registrations. This number increased to 16,200 in the week ending September 8, followed by 15,600 registrations in the week ending September 15, and then decreased to 13,800 registrations in the week ending September 22. Considering these results, Tesla China experienced a robust third quarter.

Li Auto has published its vehicle registration data for the week spanning September 30 to October 6, 2024. According to the automaker’s report, Tesla China recorded 1,800 new vehicle registrations for the week ending October 6. The results could be partially attributed to the Chinese National Day holiday, observed from October 1 to October 7.
Tesla China reached several significant milestones in the third quarter. In addition to its record-setting conclusion to Q3 2024, the company revealed that it exported its one-millionth vehicle from Giga Shanghai in late September. Tesla Vice President Grace Tao emphasized the milestone, noting that cars produced at Giga Shanghai have been delivered globally, reaching destinations from Europe to the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia and New Zealand.
