‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 10’s episode 22, titled “The Cognition Regeneration,” will feature the return of Penny’s ex-boyfriend, Zack. It seems that he has a job offer for her. However, Leonard won’t be very happy about this chance encounter between them.
The short synopsis for “The Cognition Regeneration” posted on TV Guide reads, “Penny's (Kaley Cuoco) job offer from a former boyfriend doesn't sit well with Leonard (Johnny Galecki).” It seems that Penny will get in conflict with Leonard after he finds out that Penny could be working for an ex-boyfriend.
According to Cartermatt, the upcoming episode will feature the return of Brian Thomas Smith’s Zack Johnson. Zack was Penny’s on-and-off boyfriend, who first appeared on season 3’s episode 23, titled “The Lunar Excitation.” Zack and Penny once got married in Las Vegas on a whim but later realized that it was a real wedding and had it annulled shortly afterwards.
Although Zack doesn’t seem to be much of a threat with his moderate attractiveness and dim-wittedness, Leonard would still make a big deal out of the job offer. Perhaps it is due to the fact that Penny shared a past with the man. It will interesting to see if there are hints of romantic interest left between Penny and her ex-boyfriend.
The first promotional photographs posted on TV Fanatic shows Penny running into Zack while she’s on a girls’ night out with Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Amy (Mayim Bialik), who seem to be enjoying themselves. In the subsequent photographs, Penny and Leonard are seen having dinner with Zack. It seems to be turning out well until Penny and Leonard are seen looking at Zack with expressions of doubt.
‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 10’s episode 22, titled “The Cognition Regeneration,” is scheduled to be released on CBS on April 27, 2017. It was directed by Mark Cendrowski with a story by Steve Holland, Tara Hernandez, and Jeremy Howe, and teleplay by Dave Goetsch, Eric Kaplan, and Jim Reynolds. It will be followed by episode 23, titled "The Gyroscopic Collapse," scheduled to air on May 4 and also directed by Cendrowski.
