“The Curse of Oak Island” first aired in January 2014 via History Channel. It is a show that is being led by brothers Rick and Marty Lagina, who are trying to find the treasures that were believed to have been buried on Oak Island, Nova Scotia.
They are also attempting to uncover the mysteries surrounding the territory, and so far, they have dug up many interesting leads and artifacts as they explore the island with the help of the experts. Some of the discoveries are revealing new information, and many are convinced that their work could change history.
The unreported 7th death on the island
To date, six men have already died trying to solve the more than 200-year-old mystery, and according to the legend, one more will have to die before the treasures can be found. However, there are reports that state, the island has already claimed a seventh person, and it happened six years ago already.
In a podcast by History Heretic, it was claimed a seventh person lost his life on Oak Island, and this happened just in 2014. Based on the discussion, this happened while “The Curse of Oak Island” was being filmed, but unfortunately, his death was not made public.
The man was Matt Chisholm, and he was said to be the show’s producer, and this event was even more creepy because of the mystery surrounding his passing. It was claimed that a few hours after getting a tip about an ancient Masonic map of Oak Island, he disappeared. Strangely, his death was never announced or reported, so no one knows that there has been a seventh death already.
As posted on Reddit, it is likely that lots of behind-the-scene information have been concealed and were not featured on “The Curse of Oak Island.” And in this case, someone's life has been lost, and the show has no intention of revealing it to the public. Perhaps, this is a strategy to keep the viewers glued to the show as many people know about the legend of the 7th victim?
Theory about sinkholes
At any rate, the treasure has not been found yet despite the intense search of the Lagina brothers and their team. It has been six years already, and after “The Curse of Oak Island” season 7 concluded last month, they have not found the valuables yet. Rather, they have dug up some objects, including an ancient cross believed to belong to a Knight Templar.
In this season, the team believes that they are very close to the Money Pit, but a retired geologist claimed that it doesn’t exist, and it was just a sinkhole. As per CBC, Steven Aitken after watching the show and analyzing the “evidence” that turned up in the years that the Lagina brothers have been digging on Oak Island and concluded that there is no treasure in the money pit because it is a sinkhole.
He explained that the bedrock found where the money pit sits is made up of gypsum and Windsor Group limestone. Aitken said that "given the right conditions, such as temperature, pressure, pore fluid composition, quite often these minerals, especially gypsum, they're prone to dissolution."
Lastly, he added that the tunnels and caves that “The Curse of Oak Island” have claimed to be man-made are natural formations. These are not man-made but naturally formed in thousands or even millions of years.
