‘The Exorcist’ Season 1, Episode 8 Spoilers: "Chapter Eight: The Griefbearers" – Angela Helps Father Marcus, Tomas in New Attempt to Exorcise Demon Inside Casey

‘The Exorcist’ season 1’s episode 8, entitled "Chapter Eight: The Griefbearers", will follow Angela as she participates in a new exorcism attempt to get rid of the demon possessing her daughter Casey. Father Marcus, Father Tomas, and Mother Bernadette struggle to save the girl before it’s too late.

The synopsis for episode 8 entitled “The Griefbearers” posted on Cosmic Book News stated, “As Marcus (Ben Daniels), Tomas (Alfonso Herrera) and Mother Bernadette (Deanna Dunagan) race against time to defeat the demon, the Rance family finds itself drawn into the conflict.

With the Pope's visit only days away, the church's enemies take aggressive new moves. Angela (Geena Davis) confronts a familiar face from her past, and Kat (Brianne Howey) considers a new future.”

The promo opens to the continuing exorcism of Casey (Hannah Kasulka). Angela tells her now almost unrecognizable daughter, “I know you’re in there. Stay strong.” Father Marcus and Father Tomas continue their mission with the help of Mother Bernadette.

Angela is given the task to participate in a new attempt at the exorcism but is haunted by her own demons from the past. It would be interesting to see if Casey will make it out alive with her mother’s help.

The preceding episode, entitled "Chapter Seven: Father of Lies", followed the principal characters as they struggled with their faith in God. Although a rebel in his own right, father Marcus stood firm and didn’t let his faith on his Creator waver. According to episode 7’s recap posted on Den of Geek, he intended to keep Casey alive despite Mother Bernadette’s decision of putting her down to save her soul.

Meanwhile, Father Tomas moved further away from his faith after not being given signs that he asked for. He was also moving towards the woman he loved and felt guilty about it.

However, the two continued to try and save Casey in secret with the Rance family still not knowing that she had already been found. Meanwhile, Angela’s power struggle with her past and her faith continued. She also managed to slowly reconcile with Chris MacNeil (Sharon Gless) after realizing what her mother must have gone through when she was the one possessed in the past.

‘The Exorcist’ season 1’s episode 8, entitled "Chapter Eight: The Griefbearers", is scheduled to air on Fox on November 18, 2016. The series is intended as a sequel to the 1973 horror film of the same name and is part of the ‘Exorcist’ franchise.
