A new trailer for “The Fire Hunter” Season 2 as well as the release date of January 14, 2024, were released via its official website. The first season of the anime ran from January to March 2023, with a total of ten episodes, and the animation studio Signal.MD will return to animate the second season. Season 2 will have the same old-school style animation as Season 1, as shown in the teaser below, reminding anime lovers of Hayao Miyazaki's animated works.
In October 2023, the first information for “The Fire Hunter” Season 2 were unveiled, with the core cast and team returning for the anime sequel. Junji Nishimura directed the anime, while Mamoru Oshii is in charge of both series composition and scriptwriting. Takuya Saito designed the characters and served as chief animation director alongside Toshihisa Kaiya and Kazuchika Kise.

The Japanese voice cast expected to reprise their roles for “The Fire Hunter” Season 2 include Misaki Kuno as Toko, Shoya Ishige as Koshi, Akira Ishida as Hibari, Kaori Nazuka as Hibana, Kenta Miyake as Yuoshichi, M.A.O. as Ruri Matsuri, Maaya Sakamoto as Akira, Makoto Koichi as Kaho, Mamoru Miyano as Takimi, Manaka Iwami as Yururuho/Sennen Suisei, Megumi Yamaguchi as Hinako, Ryunosuke Watanuki as Hito, Sachi Kokuryu as Kun, Saori Hayami as Kira, Sayaka Ohara as Yanagi, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Roroku, Yu Shimamura as Kiri, and Yoshiko Sakakibara as Narrator.
‘The Fire Hunter’ Season 2 Spoilers
The anime is based on the fantasy novel series The Fire Hunter, written by Rieko Hinata and drawn by Akihiro Yamada. Holp Shuppan released four volumes between December 2018 and September 2020. Crunchyroll, which will broadcast “The Fire Hunter” Season 2 outside of Asia, provides the following plot summary:
“Outside the magical barriers lies a world overrun by fiery beasts known as Flame Demons, and the only ones who can protect humanity are the Fire Hunters. In the dark woods where the beasts roam is where Toko, a young villager, is rescued from attack by one of these skilled trackers, Koshi. But their meeting was no accident, and a new destiny begins.”
