If there are fans worried about the changes in the overall quality of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2, they are permitted to feel that way. The second installment is airing after six long years. However, there is also one very good reason why they can expect for the anime’s return to look and sound very familiar.
‘The Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 production details
The first season of the anime series was produced by the popular and often fan-favorite studio Madhouse. However, they will not be returning for “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2, and fans still seem satisfied with that decision, and that is not surprising.
Eight Bit is confirmed to produce “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2, it was the same studio that worked on the 2017 film “The Irregular at Magic High School: The Girl Who Summons the Stars.” The anime feature film was a box office success and reportedly sold 107,00 tickets in its first weekend across Japan.
The movie’s creative team has been signed to work on “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 as well. Light novel series creator Tsutomu Satou is affiliated with the anime’s renewal, and director Risako Yoshida will return for the same role. They are once again joined by Kana Ishida for the character design and Taku Iwasaki for the musical scoring.
What will make “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 much more familiar is the return of the voice cast members reprising their roles from season 1 and the feature film. Saori Hayami, Yuichi Nakamura, and Yoko Hikasa will once again voice Miyuki Shiba, Tatsuya Shiba, and Angelina Kudo Shields, respectively. Voice actors for familiar supporting characters are also coming back, including Atsushi Tamaru as Mikihiko Yoshida, Junichi Suwabe as Katsuto Jūmonji, Kana Hanazawa as Mayumi Saegusa, and Marina Inoue as Mari Watanabe, among others.
‘The Irregular at Magic High School’ season 2 release date, plot
Earlier this year, “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 was announced to premiere in July. However, plans have changed since the Covid-19 crisis negatively affected the anime industry in Japan as well. Now, the anime’s much-awaited return is planned to be released in October, but the exact schedule is still undecided.
Excited fans can get ahead of “The Irregular at Magic High School” season 2 by reading up the light novel series. The next episodes will focus on the events of Visitor Arc from the light novel volumes 9 through 11.
