“The Last of Us 2” will not be released in a few more months, but the Internet is already picking up several clues on the possibilities for the future of the sequel game. The latest interesting report happens to suggest that Naughty Dog could be expanding the development of the game for a potential PC release.
‘The Last of Us 2’: Naughty Dog’s job listing suggests it might be launching on PC
The supposed clues were found in a job listing posted by the video game company as it looks to hire a Graphics Programmer to join the “The Last of Us 2” team. Down in the required skills, Naughty Dog says it is looking for someone with a “thorough understanding of current GPU architectures” citing the likes of AMD’s Graphics Core Next and Nvidia’s Compute Unified Device Architecture.
One could argue that looking for a programmer expert on AMD GCN because it is the GPU component on the PlayStation 4 platform and will be on the PS5 system. But the more interesting part is the mention of Nvidia, the GPU brand more commonly used on the gaming PC platform. It should also be noted that the job listing for the development of “The Last of Us 2” is also looking for someone knowledgeable with DirectX 12, a feature found Windows PC.
It should be noted, however, that “The Last of Us 2” has been announced as a PS4-exclusive title. The game has not even been confirmed for PS5, though, that is a very likely situation once Sony’s next-generation console arrives. Despite being a very intriguing clue about the future development of the game, this one should be taken with a heaping amount of salt.
‘The Last of Us 2’ release date, gameplay: What to expect
At this point, it is best to trust the information that has been confirmed for the game. First, “The Last of Us 2” is now set to go live on May 29 after being delayed from its original release date in February. Previously released teasers confirmed that Joel still plays an important part in the upcoming adventure, but it is his time to be on the passenger seat now. Ellie takes the main protagonist role and becomes the only playable character in the sequel.
