‘The Man in the High Castle’ is set for season 2 on Amazon Video. Executive producer Isa Dick Hackett teased that audiences will finally get to meet ‘The Man’ in the incoming season. Meanwhile, Tate Donovan joins the new cast as the mysterious figure George Dixon.
According to What Culture, executive producer Isa Dick Hackett confirmed that ‘The Man’ will finally make an appearance in the incoming season of the alternate history and science-fiction web television series loosely based on Philip K. Dick’s 1962 novel of the same name. She said, "All I can say is that we'll meet the Man in the High Castle this season."
Hackett also revealed that the series will continue to use Dick’s novel as a guide like they did in the first season and will not be a direct adaptation, according to Cheat Sheet. She said during an interview with IGN, “The series doesn’t follow the same narrative progression as the book and it’s sort of jumped around… It’s always been more of a spiritual guide, and it will continue to be so going forward. Though there were things from the book that we didn’t get to in Season 1 that we’ll now get to in the second season.”
New characters will be introduced in season 2 including Bella Heathcote’s Nicole Becker, a young Berlin-born filmmaker who Joe Blake (Luke Kleintank) will meet along the way. Heathcote described her character as a second-generation Nazi who was more interested in her films as she was about Nazi ideals. She admitted that she did research on German film director, photographer and Nazi propagandist Leni Riefenstahl for the role.
The 29-year old Australian actress is best known for her role as Victoria Winters in Tim Burton’s horror comedy film ‘Dark Shadows’. She also starred in ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ as well as ‘The Neon Demon’. She is set to appear on the 2017 sequel ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ as the character Leila Williams.
In addition to Heathcote, Tate Donovan will also be starring in season 2 as the mysterious George Dixon. According to Deadline, George is a figure tied to Juliana Crain (Alexa Davalos) as well as her past. No further details of his recurring character have been provided as of the moment.
The 52-year old American actor is best known for his roles on several full-feature films including Walt Disney’ Picture’s ‘Hercules’, where he provided the voice of the titular mythological diety, as well as in 2012’s ‘Argo’, where he won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Donovan also appeared on several television series including ‘Partners’, ‘The O.C.’, and ‘Deception’.
‘The Man in the High Castle’ is an alternative history and science-fiction web television series that first aired its pilot episode on Amazon Video on January 2015. It was picked up for a 1o-episode first season sun on February 2015. It received positive reviews from critics despite its controversial themes.
