New episodes of “The Promised Neverland” will be released in a month, and anime-only fans who have finished watching the first season might have one question stuck on their minds. In the season 1 finale, Emma promised to go back to Grace Field House to help the others reach the outside world as well. However, based on the story arcs from the manga it does not seem like this promise is getting fulfilled in “The Promised Neverland” season 2.
What is the Grace Field House?
To recap, most of season 1 occurred in the Grace Field House orphanage where Emma and her siblings lived. The show started establishing what seemed to be a perfect place to live for children. They get well enough food, they have a nice place to live in, their education is also well provided, and they have mother Isabella to take care of them. But all that changed when Emma and the others figured out what Grace Field House really is.
Like other orphanages, children can also leave Grace Field House when someone or a family wants to foster or adopt them. But Emma learned that when her siblings “leave,” it meant death as they are being fed to demonic monsters that own the place. This is what Emma ran away from and will continue to struggle with in “The Promised Neverland” season 2.
‘The Promised Neverland’ season 2 spoilers: Is Emma going back there?
At the end of season 1, a group of orphans led by Emma and Ray successfully plotted a way to escape Grace Field House. However, their other siblings were still too little and they deemed it would be more dangerous for them to join the escape. Emma then promised to come back for them, but that might have to wait beyond “The Promised Neverland” season 2.
Depending on the story arcs to be covered in season 2, Emma and her group will likely spend most of their time running around the demon forest and learning new things about the outside world. They are also on a mission to find William Minerva in the hopes that he holds the key to stopping this monstrosity for good.
‘The Promised Neverland’ season 2 release date
The release of “The Promised Neverland” season 2 was postponed this year as production needed to adjust to the challenges of COVID-19. But new episodes are now confirmed to premiere on Jan. 7, 2021.
