It now looks like “The Sims 5” will not be released before the life simulation video game franchise reaches its 20-year mark. That begs the question of what new gameplay features and contents can players expect from it since EA and Maxis appear to be going non-stop in delivering updates for the latest main title installment.

‘The Sims 5’ gameplay: Will EA wait for it before releasing University-themed expansion?

After almost two decades, one would think that there might not be anything new that Maxis can release in terms of fresh expansion contents, but that is not the case. Aside from any updates on the development of “The Sims 5,” fans have also been requesting the developers to work on a University-themed DLC.

This has also been in the rumor mill for a while now, but it gained much more intention in recent weeks following an online post from hip-hop artist Beau Young Prince in late August. The rapper shared a video while recording music that he claims to be a work for “The Sims,” but he did not specify whether it is for the fourth title or for “The Sims 5.”

Using hip-hop music gave video game fans that idea that the rapper’s not-so-top-secret project could be intended for a gameplay expansion that features the life of young adults or college students. Replies to Beau Young Prince’s were mostly asking if it was for a University-themed “The Sims” pack.

On Sept. 12, the rapper stirred more speculations when he replied to the same tweet saying, “You guys guessed it right.” It now appears that the developers will no longer wait for the release of “The Sims 5” before giving fans the much-requested University life-themed expansion.

‘The Sims 5’ release date: New game could take a few more years before getting launched

It also makes sense for Maxis not to delay the launching of a highly requested content, especially since it is still unknown if “The Sims 5” is already in development. Fans of the franchise already accepted the possibility that the content and update roadmap for “The Sims 4” still has a long way pushing the release date of “The Sims 5” to a few more years in the future.
