‘The Walking Dead’ actress Melissa McBride teased an intense season 7 premiere. Negan’s unfortunate victim is set to be revealed in the incoming season. Co-star Norman Reedus also revealed that the long wait following the cliffhanger from season 6 is worth it.
McBride, who plays Carol in the series, expressed her excitement for the incoming season during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She did, however, stay mum on details regarding the real identity of Negan’s victim from season 6’s cliffhanger finale.
The 52-year old actress admitted that people often approach her to ask about the mysterious character who met their demise. She said, “They ask, but they don’t try to get me to spill the beans. They ask and it’s a lot of me saying, “If I could tell you, would you really want me to tell you?” And then they’re like, “No. I want to know, but I want to wait. I don’t want to know. I don’t know if I want to know. It’s driving me nuts!”
She then recalled a funny memory of having to tell her mother that she wasn’t even in the controversial episode since the latter worried that Carol may have been killed off. McBride also assured viewers that although the season 6 finale had both fans and haters, the season 7 premiere will be quite satisfying.
McBride said, “…It’s compelling and some people like cliffhangers, some people hate them, and that’s just part of the experience. But I hope those people that feel jilted will tune in because the premiere is just going to be… oh God, it’s going to rock the walls. The wait is worth it. Whether you’re angry with it or whether you liked the cliffhanger or whether you’re pissed off about it, the wait is worth it.”
Co-star Norman Reedus also shared the same sentiment during a previous interview with Movie Fone. He addressed fan reaction towards the cliffhanger saying, “We're in the age of instant gratification, so I get it. When it happens to me watching other shows, I get upset as well. But it's well worth the wait. I will say it's well worth the wait!”
Reedus plays Daryl Dixon, a skilled hunter and Rick’s right-hand man. He was introduced in season 1 as a hard-edged expert tracker with a bad temper. He is ferocious and efficient with killing walkers and is considered as one of the show’s fan favorites.
According to Hollywood Take, it was speculated that Daryl may be Negan’s victim since the character doesn’t follow any storyline in the original comic books. Daryl was specially created for the small screen adaptation.
‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 is scheduled to premiere on AMC on October 23, 2016.
