“The Walking Dead” season 9 showrunner Angela Kang had been teasing the fact that the show's renewed perspective on using time jumps would play an important factor in Grimes's exit for weeks. To add to that, Kang had also been teasing about the nature of Grimes's exit, pointing out which of the character's major flaws and strengths would be responsible for his departure.
