Andrew Lincoln's (Rick Grimes) last episode in “The Walking Dead” season 9 has come and gone, but Grimes's exit from the show may not have been the biggest thing to get revealed in the anticipated episode. “The Walking Dead” season 9 showrunner Angela Kang had been teasing the fact that the show's renewed perspective on using time jumps would play an important factor in Grimes's exit for weeks. To add to that, Kang had also been teasing about the nature of Grimes's exit, pointing out which of the character's major flaws and strengths would be responsible for his departure.
What fans got in Andrew Lincoln's swan song episode for “The Walking Dead” season 9 was a beautiful look into Rick Grimes's psyche before his final moments. But Grimes's exit changes the way “The Walking Dead's” future narrative can be shaped, with Rick Grimes being airlifted by a Scavengers helicopter to safety.

The last part of the fifth episode featured one of the biggest time jumps in the series being teased by Angela Kang. For fans unafraid of spoilers but have yet to see “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 5, fans can expect an almost seven-year time jump that reveals Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming) being a badass in her own right while wearing Carl Grimes's (Chandler Riggs) cowboy hat.
