George RR Martin is finishing “The Winds of Winter,” the most-awaited book for fans of “Game of Thrones” and “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel series. It has been delayed a few times since 2013, and the latest promised date was in July, which was not fulfilled as well.
In May 2019, he told the fans through his blog that “TWOW” will be in his hands when he shows up at the WorldCon which was eventually canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The event was supposed to take place from July 29 to Aug. 2 so any of these dates was considered as GRRM’s promised day of completion.
Returning to the Westeros
George RR Martin shared that “The Winds of Winter” has taken a back seat for too long and he admitted that was frustrating even to himself, that the book is still not finished after so many years. He announced that he is back to writing this book and it will be his priority now.
“I am back in my fortress of solitude again, my isolated mountain cabin,” GRRM wrote on his Aug. 15 entry on his “Not a Blog” personal page. “I am back on the mountain again which means I am back in Westeros again, once more moving ahead with ‘WINDS OF WINTER.’”
“My life up here is very boring, it must be said and truth be told, I hardly can be said to have a life,” he added. “Every morning I wake up and go straight to the computer, where my minion brings me coffee and juice, and sometimes a light breakfast. Then I start to write.”
Martin further said he usually finishes writing after the sunset and it’s time for dinner already. He even stated that because this has been his routine every single day, he tends to lose track of time and day. Then again, for fans, this is good news because it only means that “The Winds of Winter” will finally be completed and published.
Predicted publishing date
George RR Martin announced his intention to finish “The Winds of Winter” soon. He will not be accepting any job or write other books until he gets “TWOW” done and fans are hoping, he will really stick to his promise this time.
As for the release date window, Inverse suggested that the book may arrive in time for the second anniversary of the “Game of Thrones” finale. This means “The Winds of Winter” could be arriving in May 2021.
