The release date of “The Winds of Winter” is still elusive, but some of the events in the sixth book have already been revealed through various chapter previews over the years. One of the interesting arcs in the book is the development of Sansa’s character. There is even a possibility that she becomes the main force in reclaiming Winterfell.

‘The Winds of Winter’ spoilers: Sansa disguises as Alayne

Sansa (Sophie Turner) became one of the most developed characters throughout the eight seasons of the TV series. However, the way she learned and mastered the so-called game of thrones is naturally more fleshed out in the book, particularly in “The Winds of Winter.”

One of the released chapters of “The Winds of Winter” is written in the perspective of Alayne. This is the name Sansa took while disguising herself as the bastard daughter of Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish (Aidan Gillen).

The same premise was shown in the TV series where Sansa was in the Vale, and then Baelish sold her to the Boltons. But a single chapter from “The Winds of Winter” already shows the Sansa in the books is more devious and learned to be manipulative. Alayne’s main goal is to marry the heir of the Vale, Ser Harrold Hardyng, should Robert Arryn dies.

Marrying Harrold would make it possible for Sansa to use the Knights of the Vale to battle with the Boltons and reclaim Winterfell. The Knights of the Vale’s role in defeating the Boltons was maintained in the show, but how this story will unfold in “The Winds of Winter” will likely allow fans to see just how Sansa has matured since the first book.

‘The Winds of Winter’ release date: Is it coming out this year?

The one detail that fans are most interested in is the release date of “The Winds of Winter.” About a year ago, fans got excited again when the first volume of “Fire and Blood” was announced for a November 2018 release.

In an interview, author George RR Martin said finishing the said book allows him to prioritize “The Winds of Winter.” That sparked hopes that the sixth “A Song of Ice and Fire” installment could be released sometime in 2019. Unfortunately, the year is now entering its last quarter without any indication that the “The Winds of Winter” is coming out soon.
