‘This Is Us’ Season 1, Episode 18 Spoilers: “Moonshadow” – Jack Follows Rebecca to Cleveland in Hopes of Reconciliation; Cause of Death Revealed?

‘This Is Us’ season 1’s episode 18, titled “Moonshadow,” will follow Jack as he travels to Cleveland to reconcile with Rebecca during her band tour. It was speculated that the finale will feature the cause of the Pearson patriarch’s grim fate.

The synopsis for episode 18 posted on TV Guide reads, “In the first-season finale, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) heads to Cleveland to make things right with Rebecca (Mandy Moore) on the night of her first big gig with the band. Then, Randall (Sterling K. Brown), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Kevin (Justin Hartley) make big decisions about their futures.”

In the upcoming episode, Jack will do everything he can to fix his strained relationship with Rebecca. He will head to Cleveland to reconcile with his wife on the first night of their band tour.

It was revealed in the previous episode, titled "What Now?," that the two parted in bad terms. They had just gone through a major fight about Rebecca touring with an ex-boyfriend, which led Jack to storm out of the house and into a diner to start drinking.

According to TVLine, Moore addressed her character Rebecca’s strained marriage with Ventimiglia’s Jack. She said, “It’s disappointing to start to see the fractures in their relationship at this point in their marriage. Things are frayed, and they’re in desperate need of reconnecting… I don’t know if that’s going to happen before she leaves to go on tour.”

Moore added, ““But to that, I say women should be able to have it all. Just because she’s a mother — and I understand that’s her first responsibility — I take issue with other women that are like, ‘That’s selfish of her… I think it’s selfish of Jack to want to keep her under lock and key. It feels like there’s a sense of control there.”

As the popular drama television series’ first season comes to a close, the cause of Jack’s death begins to unfurl itself. Kate continued to struggle with telling Toby (Chris Sullivan) about it despite their vows to never keep secrets from each other. However, she soon admitted that she was responsible for her father’s death.

Ventimiglia previously teased that the final episodes of season 1 will be stressful for viewers. Perhaps the cause of Jack’s death will finally be revealed, considering some foreshadowing featured on the upcoming episode’s promo. In the preview clip, Jack is seen drinking cans of beer while driving.

Kelechi Watson, who plays Randall’s wife Beth, also advised that people should watch the finale with their friends. Hartley offered his own advice saying, "Just breathe through it… You'll make it."
