‘This Is Us’ season 2 is set to explain the circumstances of Jack’s death. Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Jack Pearson on the series, teased that the mystery will unfold sooner than later. Filming is set to begin sometime in June or July of 2017.
According to Buddy TV, the upcoming season of NBC’s award-winning television series is set to explain the cause of Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) death. Sterling K. Brown, who plays Jack and Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) son Randall, admitted that he has no idea of the events to come.
During an interview with E! News, the 41-year old American actor said, "I know we'll find out how Jack dies and I know we'll see it… Don't cry yet! I can't tell you exactly when it will happen ... it will happen this season." He also hoped that Randall’s backstory with his wife, Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson), will be explored further.
Meanwhile, actress Susan Kelechi Watson admitted that she hoped the new installments won’t put too much focus on the Pearson patriarch’s death. She said, "I think it's so much more important to watch his life… There are jewels in there and so many other connective things we're going to play with that to watch that play out is going to be something just as great as finding out how he passes."
Ventimiglia also teased that the mystery behind Jack’s demise will be explained much sooner than expected. He said, “I mean, look, for it not to happen, that would be a slap in the face. It blows me away that everybody is dying to know, but at the same time, I get it. It’s a curiosity.”
He continued, “But what I tell people is the novel that is Jack’s life is much more interesting than the footnote of his death. Paying attention to how the man lived, especially now with dire times. His wife [Rebecca] and he [Jack] are not together at the end of the season, so you want to see them repaired and put back together.”
Season 2 is set to begin production in the next few months. According to ET, Lonnie Chavis, who plays the young version of Randall in the series, revealed that the series will begin filming sometime in June or July.
‘This Is Us’ season 2 is set to pick up after the events of its predecessor. It was renewed on NBC last January 2017 through its third season for an additional 36 episodes. Since the series’ release last September 2016, the series garnered multiple awards including nominations for Best Television Series – Drama at the Golden Globe Awards as well as Best Drama Series at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
