Sen. Thom Tillis said private satellite services involved in military and geopolitical affairs need safeguards after CBS News reported that SpaceX temporarily curtailed Starlink service in Ukraine.

On CBS News’ “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan,” Tillis said, “I get it’s a private company, but they’re playing into military space, geopolitical space.” He added, “There’s got to be some guardrails and accountability, in my opinion.”

CBS News said Tillis was among several Republicans publicly objecting to the temporary Starlink throttling.
