President Bola Tinubu appointed Aviation and Aerospace Development Minister Festus Keyamo to head the All Progressives Congress (APC) air-mobilisation directorate for its 2027 campaign, which is expected to coordinate travel planning across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The statement announcing the appointment was issued in Abuja on Sunday, Oct. 25, and signed by Tunde Moshood, Keyamo’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications. It framed the unit’s purpose around campaign officials needing to reach multiple locations on tight schedules.
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku was named Deputy Director I, while Nigerian Airspace Management Agency Managing Director Farouk Ahmed Umar was named Deputy Director II.
The statement says campaign arrangements should remain separate from official government functions and use authorized channels. It also calls for compliance with aviation regulations and electoral laws, as well as coordination with other campaign teams.
The statement did not identify who would pay for travel or name a budget, aircraft or operator. Tinubu had opened his 2027 campaign at a rally in Kaduna on Oct. 24, the day before the appointment announcement. Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission lists Jan. 16, 2027, for presidential and National Assembly elections.
