Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu plans to open Akwa Ibom projects and attend rallies in two states on Friday and Saturday, bringing a state government showcase into his 2027 re-election campaign.

A State House itinerary issued Nov. 5 puts Tinubu in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital, on Friday for project openings and a political rally. He is due in Port Harcourt, Rivers, on Saturday for an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally.

In Uyo, the scheduled openings include three facilities at Victor Attah International Airport: Ibom Aviation Village, the International Airport Hospital and the International Terminal Building. The itinerary also lists Airport-Okopedi Road, Ring Road 3, AKWA-GIS Office Complex, Command and Control Centre and ARISE Palm Resort.

Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser for information and strategy, signed the statement, which credited Akwa Ibom Gov. Umo Eno’s administration with completing the projects. It places Airport-Okopedi Road in the local government areas of Nsit Atai and Okobo and says Ring Road 3 connects Idoro Road with Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom.

Eno made Friday a work-free day so residents could welcome Tinubu, the State House said.

The visit follows a pledge by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a network of support groups, to mobilize backing in Akwa Ibom for Tinubu and other APC candidates in 2027. The pledge was detailed in earlier coverage of the state’s grassroots campaign.

The State House counted Saturday’s Port Harcourt event as Tinubu’s third rally since he began his re-election campaign in Kaduna last month.
