French Green Party leader Marine Tondelier tied her potential exit from France’s 2027 presidential race to left-wing unity, telling France 2 Monday that a joint route to victory was necessary.
She did not announce a withdrawal. Tondelier said she would consider leaving only if cooperation gave the left a path to win. “No one will win alone,” she said.
The conditions reach beyond whether the left backs one presidential candidate. Tondelier said an agreement would need to cover governing arrangements and legislative races, as well as shared policy and a coordinated campaign. Her position links her candidacy to a broader agreement among left-wing parties rather than treating a withdrawal as a standalone choice.
RTL described divisions within Les Écologistes over whether to run independently or support another candidate. RTL and Anadolu Agency reported that party members are due to vote Dec. 10-13 on whether Les Écologistes should pursue an autonomous candidacy or support another candidate.
