‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ is set to feature the return of Stanley Tucci as the character Joshua Joyce from ‘Age of Extinction’. He joins returning cast members Mark Wahlberg and Josh Duhamel. Meanwhile, director Michael Bay recently showed off his custom camera called “Bayhem” on the U.K. filming set.
According to Cinema Blend, Tucci has confirmed his involvement for director Michael Bay’s upcoming fifth installment in the ‘Transformers’ popular cinematic franchise. He is set to reprise his role as the egomaniac Joshua Joyce, who was first introduced into the series in the preceding film ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’.
Tucci’s character began as one of the antagonists in Bay’s 2014 release. He later became a supporting protagonist and is considered an anti-hero.
Joshua is the CEO of Kinetic Solutions Incorporated responsible for dissecting Autobots for the company’s purpose of creating and developing human-engineered and artificial Transformers, according to an article on Uproxx. He is known to be arrogant and demanding but ultimately an engineering genius.
Tucci will be joining returning cast mates Mark Wahlberg as human protagonist Cade Yeager and Josh Duhamel as soldier William Lennox. Tucci is an Academy Award-winning actor best known for his roles in films such as 2002’s ‘Road to Perdition’, 2004’s ‘The Terminal’, 2006’s ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, 2009’s ‘The Lovely Bones’, and 2009’s ‘Julie and Julia’. He also appeared in the recurring role of Caesar Flickerman in ‘The Hunger Games’ film adaptations.
Meanwhile, Bay shared more behind-the-scenes footage from the United Kingdom filming set on social media. According to /Film, Bay posted a video of himself on Instagram holding a custom RED camera while shooting explosions and action-packed scenes. The post was captioned, “RED Camera named it "BAYHEM" They created the lightest, most advanced hand held motion picture camera in the world. I put it through the paces on Transformers in UK.”
‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ is an upcoming action-adventure and science-fiction film scheduled to premiere in U.S. theaters on June 23, 2017. It is directed by Michael Bay and written by Matt Holloway, Art Marcum, and Ken Nolan. It is produced by Hasbro and Paramount Pictures.
It is the fifth installment in the ‘Transformers’ live-action film series based on Takara and Hasbro’s toy line. It is the direct sequel to 2014’s ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’, which was panned by critics but received commercial success at the box office.
