U.S. President Donald Trump resumed a Florida campaign speech after stopping to wipe his eye, while two restored Sunday rallies return him to Iowa and Kansas before the Nov. 3 midterms.
The Trump 47 Committee’s event listing set the Daytona remarks for 7 p.m. ET Friday. At the Ocean Center, Trump said, “I got a little thing in my eye.” He wiped it, then said, “Ah, that’s so much better,” and added that he wished he had eye drops. He did not explain what was bothering his eye, and no medical assessment appears in the recording.
The committee lists Trump’s remarks for 4 p.m. ET Sunday, Nov. 1, in Dubuque, Iowa, and 8 p.m. ET in Salina, Kansas.
The Associated Press reported that the campaign canceled its in-person stops Thursday, Oct. 29, replacing them with phone rallies, then restored the appearances Friday. Trump said Friday that allies in Iowa and Kansas had told him an in-person visit would be more effective. EconoTimes previously covered the canceled Iowa and Kansas stops.
The election takes place Tuesday, Nov. 3, and will determine control of Congress. All 435 House seats and about one-third of the Senate’s 100 seats are on the ballot, according to USAGov. The Associated Press reported that the Iowa and Kansas Senate races could affect Republicans’ narrow majority in the chamber.
Hindustan Times reported that some social media commenters questioned Trump’s health after the interruption. Their comments were reactions, not medical findings.
