Turkish consumer sentiment rises in January

Turkish consumer sentiment rises in the month of January. The Turkish Statistical Institute showed that the consumer confidence index rose to 72.3, rising 11.1 percent from December’s 65.1. The financial situation expectation of household index rose 7.3 percent compared to the previous month and became 91.1 in January. This increase was driven from the rise of consumers expecting better financial situation of household in the next 12 months period.

The general economic situation expectation index rose 9.7 percent from December’s 87.5 to 96.1 in January. This rise stemmed from the rise of consumers expecting a better general economic situation in the next 12 months compared to the earlier month.

The number of people unemployed expectation index rose 7.7 percent compared to the earlier month and came in at 76 in January. This rise was driven by the rise in people expecting a decrease in the number of unemployed persons in the next 12 months.

The probability of saving index rose 49.7 percent to 26.2 from December’s 17.5. This rise was driven from the increase of consumers who expressed probability of saving for the next 12 months period.
