The U.S. dollar rose against Taiwan's currency on Thursday, lifting the Taipei closing rate to NT$32.492 and leaving buyers needing more local currency for each dollar. Central News Agency (CNA) reported the close was NT$0.074 above the previous session.
The rate began at NT$32.390, its session low, and peaked at NT$32.597. Market turnover came to US$2.824 billion, CNA reported. Because the quote measures Taiwan dollars per U.S. dollar, the higher close meant more local currency was needed to buy one dollar.
EconoTimes has also covered Taipei's foreign-exchange market in an earlier closing-rate report, which recorded a separate close at NT$32.508 per U.S. dollar.
