UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani discussed Middle East security and bilateral ties in a phone call Wednesday, WAM reported.

The ministers considered how cooperation could support each government’s development agenda and sustainable economic growth objectives, WAM said. They also discussed strengthening the UAE-Italy strategic partnership.

The call covered regional and international issues, with the Middle East receiving particular attention. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen efforts to promote regional and international security and stability, WAM reported.

The exchange followed an Oct. 19 meeting in Abu Dhabi between UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron. They discussed Middle East developments, maritime security and responses to effects on global energy supplies, according to EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of UAE-France talks.
