There remain dangers on the international stage, most particularly the Greek crisis, that seems inadequate as an explanation of the continuing gentle pace of UK mortgage growth.
"Rather that can be attributed to the tighter mortgage affordability criteria introduced in the spring of 2014. So in broad terms a continuation of the contrasting growth trends is expected to be seen", says Societe Generale.
However, in June it has been already seen from the lending data from the Council of Mortgage Lenders that there was a significant post-election jump in mortgage activity.
