The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said all crew aboard a tanker were accounted for after projectiles struck the ship in the Arabian Gulf, and said no environmental impact had been reported.

In its Nov. 2 entry, UKMTO located the strike off Saudi Arabia, 72 nautical miles east of Ras Al Khafji. It said the tanker was traveling southeast and reported two impacts on the vessel's port side.

UKMTO described the projectiles as unknown and did not identify their source. The public entry did not identify the vessel by name or specify its flag, cargo, exact incident time or damage assessment.

UKMTO urged ships in the area to proceed carefully and alert the agency to suspicious activity.

A different UKMTO entry dated Nov. 1 referred to a merchant vessel relaying a Mayday call after another ship was struck by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz. The listing did not connect that report with the tanker incident east of Ras Al Khafji.
