There could be an unprecedented debate between Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic second runner Bernie Sanders in ABC. The idea was first time hatched during Donald Trump’s appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live”.
Debates have traditionally been between the nominees of each candidate and between two presidential candidates. So such an unprecedented debates will attract huge attention and very high ratings. It could very well be mega event of this year’s election.
Trump has told reporters in North Dakota that he would love to debate Bernie, and Sanders replied with a tweet –“Game on”. “I look forward to debating Donald Trump in California before June 7 Primary”.
Lots are at stake if the debate do take place for all three remaining Presidential candidates.
- Bernie Sanders – He has the biggest to gain from it. So far in the campaign, Mr. Sanders has got the least media attention among the three and this could be very big national stage for him to show that he is a better candidate than front runner Hillary Clinton. If Mr. Sanders win the debate, he win as well as the Democrats.
- Donald Trump – While this is the biggest chance for him to undermine Hillary, Mr. Trump is likely to face dilemma. He can’t lose but can’t afford to win too big, or that will give Clinton the necessary leeway. Biggest opportunity for him is to win Sanders’ voters, since both of them are aligned in many of their ideas and have attacked establishment politics. Biggest task for him would be to win balanced.
- Hillary Clinton – She has most to lose from the debate as she already backed out of agreement to debate Sanders ahead of primary in California. If Sanders win, he will prove his worth and good position to best Donald Trump, if not she risks Donald Taking away lots of Sanders supporters. The debate will clearly undermine her position as Democratic front runner. He camp is hoping that the debate won’t take place.
As of now, it isn’t fixed yet, but if it does, Not only America but whole world will be watching.
