The Presidential campaign of Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee generated $64 million in donations in July despite Trump’s attack on the party establishment and controversies. A major feud opened up after Mr. Trump counterattacked the criticism from Khizr Khan and Ghazala Khan, the parents of a U.S. army captain who was slain in Iraq. Prominent Republicans like House speaker Paul Ryan and Senator John McCain delivered a sharp rebuke to Trump. In response, Trump refused to endorse both Ryan and McCain in their upcoming reelection bid.
His criticism took its toll on the polls. A Fox News poll released on Wednesday showed that Mr. Trump’s approval has declined to 39 percent and the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton is leading by 10 points. However, Mr. Trump’s donation figure should help to discourage fear and criticism that his campaign is running out of Money. But there is no beating Hillary who secured $63 million funding through her campaign alone.
The good news for Trump is that the most of his supporters remain passionate and supportive of him despite the recent feud. One U.S. veteran at Trump rally said that if he would have been the father of a veteran soldier, he wouldn’t take his grief to a political campaign.
