The United States and India have taken a major step in strengthening their defense partnership with the signing of a new 10-year defense framework agreement. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the development on Friday, calling it a cornerstone for regional stability and a key move to bolster deterrence in the Indo-Pacific region.

The long-term framework aims to enhance military coordination, intelligence sharing, and technological cooperation between the two nations. Hegseth, who shared the news on X after meeting with India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, highlighted that the agreement reflects a shared commitment to maintaining peace, security, and a free and open Indo-Pacific.

According to defense analysts, the renewed pact signifies deepening strategic ties between Washington and New Delhi amid growing global security challenges and regional tensions. The United States views India as a crucial defense partner in countering threats in the Indian Ocean and ensuring stability across Asia.

The framework will reportedly expand collaboration on joint military exercises, defense technology innovation, and logistics support. It is also expected to boost cooperation between defense industries in both countries, paving the way for co-development and co-production of advanced military equipment.

This agreement reinforces the growing defense and security relationship between two of the world’s largest democracies. By strengthening interoperability and shared defense capabilities, both nations aim to promote long-term regional security and stability.

The 10-year defense framework not only enhances strategic trust but also positions India and the U.S. as pivotal partners in maintaining a balance of power in the Indo-Pacific region, underscoring their mutual vision for peace, prosperity, and global security.
